Houston

Those are the hur(andhim)ricanes I’ve experienced. This time I don’t think the eye “passedover” us. :-)

Our structures are ok, not enough damage to complain (or “whine”) about. Just some fence damage being our most major damage.

But the being without power thing sucks. I’ve been spending my time thinking about my first priority, which was to get my mom into a place with power/airconditioning and since I managed that today, my thoughts are free to blog! So here I am!!!! In the dark, no airconditioning, no refrigeration, no lights (except candle and flashlight), no hot bath or shower (all electric apartment), but I’m still blogging on a laptop (recharging it in my car … ) on dial-up !!!!

Ain’t technology great. Speaking of which, a couple of comments (one from a liberal, one from a conservative) ended up in my so-called “moderation” queue, I’ve passed those. I don’t know Y either of those ended up in so-called “moderation”. I may respond to the comments that I’ll respond to later tonight, maybe tommorow.

So don’t worry about me, I’m fine. This is just what we expect every 25 years living in Houston.

There’s a few other enjoyable I’m From Houston tunes from some other local Houston Rap artists (search on YouTube), but this is my favorite -

Actually, Houston does have some interesting chases. Here’s another -

Rockets struggle to 20th consecutive win
Winning streak now second longest in NBA history

ATLANTA – The Rockets fell into hugs. Exhausted. Relieved. Triumphant again.

It was “ugly,” they said later, but they loved it for its flaws, as if they stared into the brink of the streak’s end, almost daring that fate to finally catch them, and then denied inevitability again to take their place with only two other teams in NBA history.

The Rockets struggled as they rarely have in the past six weeks, but with a night full of defense and a late run, they pushed their winning streak to 20 consecutive games Monday with an 83-75 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks.

They tied the 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks for the second-longest streak in NBA history, a stretch of uninterrupted victories bettered only by the 33-game run of the Los Angeles Lakers the year after the Bucks’ run.

“It’s unbelievable, 20 in a row, especially on this level,” Tracy McGrady said after scoring 28 points to lead the Rockets, propping up their misfiring offense in the second half. “I can’t even explain it. You got to factor in back-to-backs. You’re not shooting the ball particularly well some nights. Offense is not going to be there. Just so many things you can factor in. But 20 games to come out with victories, it’s unbelievable.”  …

Estimated 17 or 18 thousand inside Toyota Center to see Barack, free tickets.  No telling how many were left outside (supposed to have big screens up outside to see the inside), but I heard this morning that the tickets for the inside were going for $100 scalped.  (Update:  Governor Rick Perry reported 20 thousand, but he’s such a big liar you can’t trust his numbers.  But a broken clock is correct 2 times a day, so maybe Governor Perry hit it correct this time.)

Former President Clinton was a couple of blocks away, speaking @ a fundraiser at a hotel, estimated 1000-1200 to pay $100 a seat/plate …

Oh, I guess the “BleckHeads” ™ here want a “Campaign’t” ™ report.  Here’tis:  Former President Bush endorsed McCain’t hoping to solidify his supposed “conservative” credentials.  ROFLMAO!!!!  Can you “read my lips”????  “No new taxes.”????   ;-)

Update:  Here’s a channel 13 report on the Obama event (I was off by a few blocks, I thought the Hyatt that Clinton was @ was the larger one across the street from the Toyota Center, not the smaller/classic/older Hyatt over on Louisiana street) -

The Roger Clemons hearings are a “red-herring” (a distraction (in this case, from much more important issues)).  Congress should be ashamed of itself, America certainly is ashamed of Congress.

Literally.  Where the truck first crashed through the first Bellaire cruiser, is blocks from where I lived at that time.  I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this chase until I just found this clip -

I hear they want the Rocket to testify about steroids.  Duds, quit wasting our time and money on investigating baseball.  Leave that to baseball and the Police.

You got much more important things to do, for instance, you should be impeaching Cheney and then Bush.

Welcome to my blog!

I’ll probably post only a few posts a day for the time being, so consider all posts as open threads for commenting purposes.

A simple chase, went on for a few hours (but this clip is only about about 4 1/2 minute long.)  But it was in my own hometown and I witnessed a tiny portion of it (it passed on the otherside of the freeway) so here’tis -
